John Daly (aka JD) was born in Carmichael, California in 1966. His family moved from California to Dardanelle, Arkansas, when John was five. Dardanelle is where John found and fell in love with the game of golf. Later, John attended Helias High School, in Jefferson City, Missouri, and was a Letterman in both football and golf. It was golf where he excelled being named the title of Missouri State Champion. John also attended the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of the golf team. Daly turned professional in 1987, and won the Ben Hogan Utah Classic three years later. His long list of achievements include the 1990 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year title, being noted as the youngest active player on PGA TOUR with two major championship titles, and becoming the fourth American since World War II to win two majors before his 30th birthday, joining Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, and Johnny Miller. Daly remains as one of the most popular and intriguing figures on the Tour with his driving distance off the tee, his most recent wardrobe and his no-frills philosophy of "grip it and rip it."
